Specialized Programs

Gifted Academy

The Gifted Academy at Parkway Middle School is designed to nurture and challenge academically advanced learners in a supportive, engaging environment. All teachers are gifted-endorsed and specially trained to meet the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted students. Identified gifted students are cohorted together in core academic classes, allowing them to collaborate with like-minded peers while engaging in rigorous, project-based learning experiences.

Our program emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and real-world application through hands-on projects and enriching monthly field trips. At Parkway, gifted students are not only challenged academically — they also find their tribe, build meaningful connections, and thrive within a community that celebrates curiosity and excellence.

SMART Program

The SMART Program is an $800 million capital improvement program put in place to enhance the educational experience of Broward County Public Schools students. This is accomplished by upgrading existing school facilities and providing schools with advanced technology, athletic equipment, and musical instruments.

The primary focus of the SMART Program includes capital improvements to school facilities such as roofing, HVAC improvements, fire alarm and fire sprinkler upgrades, electrical, ADA, and media center enhancements, STEM lab improvements, and classroom additions.

Title l Program

Title I is a federally funded program for economically disadvantaged children who reside in school attendance areas with a high concentration of children from low-income families. Since a high incidence of poverty in a school has a direct correlation with low academic student achievement, the goal of the Title I Program is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and the skills to master the Florida Standards.

The School Board of Broward County (SBBC), Title I, Part A Program supports school efforts in ensuring that all children meet challenging academic standards by providing resources to schools with economically disadvantaged students. Our district operates Title I Schoolwide programs that provide all students with access to services. These resources provide additional teachers, professional development, extra time for teaching, parent engagement activities, and other supplementary instructional activities designed to raise student achievement.
